Chairman and Secretary hand over group reins

Published by Colin Barnett on

After 18 years, Geoff Smith, who is a founder member of Mid Wales Advanced Motorists, resigned his position as Group Secretary at our 2022 AGM held on the 28th May. Geoff has held this voluntary and so unpaid position in MWAM since 2003. I know that I can speak for all fellow members of the group in saying that Geoff has been an excellent Group Secretary, whose dedication, knowledge of IAM RoadSmart procedures and outstanding communication skills will be a major loss to the group (and to IAM RoadSmart). As Chairman for the past three years, I have worked closely with Geoff and will miss our frequent telephone discussions and email communications relating to MWAM group matters.

I am very pleased to announce that we have a new Group Secretary in member Jim Campbell, and I wish Jim every success in the role.

I myself also resigned at the AGM, and my role as Chairman will be taken over by member Mike Hughes. We also now have a Vice-chairman in member Richard Lawson, again I wish them every success in their roles.

The photographs below are taken at the AGM and show Geoff being presented with a Certificate of Appreciation (from IAM RoadSmart) by our Treasurer Mike Price and myself, with the second photograph showing Geoff being presented with a clock as a gift from MWAM group members by Mike Price.
