Associate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

IAM RoadSmart has given guidance for car associates to keep both the observer and associate safe.  MWAM is going well above the requirement for PPE for observers observing an associate.  The basic guidance for associates is as follows:

  • The obvious precautions are of course that anyone showing signs of being unwell or if living with anyone that has the virus or is in quarantine (such as those returning from a foreign holiday) must not proceed with the session and must advise their observer that they wish to cancel
  • All training must be on a one to one basis, no additional passengers will be allowed
  • A face mask must be worn at all times
  • Distancing guidance must be followed where possible
  • At your meeting place and stopping venues please comply with our safeguarding guidelines
  • Ensure that your vehicle is cleaned with antibacterial wipes before and after the session
  • Ensure that you have enough fuel for the session
  • The best advice is to keep a window open slightly to circulate fresh air within the vehicle, do not set your ventilation system to re-circulate the air in the vehicle

If you decide to undertake the training please try to enjoy the session even with these precautions in place. Taking and passing the course is a personal achievement and is well worth the effort involved in observing the safety precautions.
